Suspension repairsAitkenvale.

A knock over the speed humps, a wallowy ride or tyres scuffing on one edge all trace back to the suspension. We find the worn component, fit quality gear in its place, and reset the wheel alignment on the same visit, so it is one trip in from Aitkenvale and the job is done.

Castle Mechanical workshop in Garbutt replacing suspension components for an Aitkenvale customer

Why it matters

Tired suspension doesmore than ride rough.

Your shocks and springs keep the tyres planted, the ride settled and the car safe to steer and stop. Around Aitkenvale that means soaking up the constant speed humps, kerbs and patched-up back streets behind the shopping centre, plus the odd run out onto rougher ground.

A settled, planted ride

Fresh shocks and springs stop the car floating and pitching, so it stays composed over humps, dips and the longer drive out of town.

Tyres that earn their keep

Worn dampers and a drifted alignment scrub the tyres out on one edge. Put the suspension right and a set of tyres lasts the distance it should.

Safe and steady under load

Sound suspension keeps rubber on the road for shorter stops and steadier corners, whether the boot is full from Stockland or you are loaded up for a weekend away.

What you get

A floaty, bouncy feel that hangs on after a bump
The nose dipping hard under brakes
Tyres wearing unevenly or cupping
A knock or clunk from the front over rough ground
The car drifting or wandering on a straight road
One corner sitting low, or a lean under load

Common questions

The questionswe hear most.

Still not sure? Give the workshop a call or send a message and we will sort it.

  • Regularly. Aitkenvale is only about ten minutes from the Garbutt workshop, an easy run up Bayswater Road, so dropping it off is no hassle. We diagnose the shocks, springs, bushes and steering, then square away the wheel alignment under the same roof, so you are not driving across town for a separate alignment afterwards.

  • It tends to creep in. A wallowing or bouncy ride, the front dipping sharply when you brake, a clunk over bumps, tyres scrubbing unevenly or the car drifting on a straight road are the common ones. Notice any of them and it is worth a look.

  • Around 80,000 to 100,000 km is typical, but corrugations, rough roads and loaded 4WD work pull that number back. We give them a once-over any time the car is in for something else.

  • Yes. Whenever suspension or steering components come off, the alignment has to go back to factory spec or you will scrub tyres and the handling will feel off. We do it on the same visit so it is all sorted together.

  • Every week. Shocks, springs, bushes and full repairs on the Hilux, Ranger, LandCruiser, Triton, D-Max and Patrol, dialled in to ride well around the suburbs and hold up when they are loaded for a trip.

  • Most often it is a sagging spring, a perished bush or an alignment that has wandered off, the sort of thing all the kerbs and patched back streets behind Stockland help along. We track down the actual cause and fix that one thing, rather than throwing parts at it.
