Brake repairsGarbutt.

A squeak as you pull up or a pedal that drops too low means the brakes want a look. We are the workshop on the corner of Dalrymple and Bayswater, so it is a two-minute job to drop it in. From a quick pad swap to a full hydraulic overhaul, we match the parts to how the vehicle gets driven and hand you the price before a spanner moves.

Why it matters

Brakes are the lastthing to leave to chance.

Garbutt is all loaded work utes, fleet runs and stop-start trips along Ingham Road and Bayswater, the sort of driving that leans hard on the brakes. They will not heal on their own, and a quick check now keeps you safe and keeps the repair small.

Shorter stops when you need them

Worn pads and tired fluid stretch out how far the car rolls before it pulls up. Fresh brakes give you the bite to stop short when a forklift or a truck noses out on Hugh Ryan Drive.

A quiet fault caught early

A few minutes with the wheels off shows up thinning pads or sinking fluid well before a tidy job turns into an expensive one.

Pads now, not rotors later

Let pads wear down to the backing plate and they chew into the rotors. Catch them in time and a cheap pad change never grows into a full rotor replacement.

What you get

A proper brakecheck and repair.

Anything from a fast front-pad change to a full hydraulic rebuild, across cars, work utes and 4WDs.

Common questions

The questionswe hear most.

Still not sure? Give the workshop a call or send a message and we will sort it.

  • Right on the corner of Dalrymple and Bayswater Roads, the workshop most of the estate drives past every day. No crossing town, just book it in and leave it with us, and we will check the brakes over and quote before any spanner turns.

  • Let your ears and your right foot do the telling. A squeal, a grind, a pedal that sinks or a shudder as you slow are all signs they want looking at. We pull the wheels, measure the pads and fluid, and show you exactly how much life is left.

  • Somewhere between 40,000 and 80,000 km, though how the vehicle gets driven swings that hard. Plenty of stop-start and a loaded tray chews them through quicker. We gauge them at every service so you are never caught out.

  • A squeal is generally the wear indicator doing its job, warning that the pads are getting thin. A grind is past that point, the friction material is gone and metal is on metal, and that needs dealing with right away before the rotors are ruined.

  • It hangs on whether it is just pads, rotors that need machining, or deeper hydraulic work, plus the vehicle itself. We look it over, walk you through what we find, and lock in a firm price before starting.

  • Not if there is grinding or the pedal has gone soft, that is real lost stopping power and not worth the gamble. Get it to us before driving any further than you must, which is no hardship when the workshop is around the corner.
